Frederick Goldman B2B
CLIENT
ABOUT
Frederick Goldman (FGI) was founded in the late 1940s as a one-person operation specializing in plain wedding rings. FGI has grown to become one of the largest jewelry manufacturing companies in North America across three separate divisions serving all retail channels of distribution.
I was brought in to develop the strategy, features, implementation, and design of FGI’s new B2B e-commerce site.
CHALLENGE
Create a robust and scalable B2B e-commerce platform with an intuitive user experience for FGI’s wide spectrum of retail partners.
SOLUTION
To start, I researched the space, conducted interviews, examined existing architecture, and made recommendations. I then mapped high-level goals into an actionable set of go-forward plans, beginning with project scoping and feature set determination and progressing through to wireframe creation, Usability, design, front-end development, and extensive QA.
Simple. Simple. Simple. I set the mandate to make this very complex platform as simple as possible. Many of the end-users are jewelry store owners that are very uncomfortable with technology. The site needed to have the level of design you find on consumer sites such as Kayak and Amazon.
RESULTS
The culmination is a powerful transaction platform that is relied upon by over 4K retailers nationally, as they use it to track and place orders, record payments and manage the business they conduct with FGI daily.
